Micro Museum of Center Noordung

The Micro Museum of Center Noordung is an innovative mobile unit that brings the life and work of Herman Potočnik Noordung, space exploration, and the contributions of Slovenian scientists to the development of space technologies closer to visitors in an accessible and engaging way.

Through the Micro Museum, we bring space closer to a wider audience, fostering curiosity, interest in science and technology, and enhancing the visibility of Center Noordung as a unique educational and cultural institution in Slovenia. It represents a modern and sustainable approach that brings knowledge about space to where people are.

Content

The Micro Museum offers an engaging insight into key areas of space research:
• the life and work of pioneer Herman Potočnik Noordung,
• the development of space technologies throughout history,
• the basic characteristics of the universe, the formation of stars and galaxies,
• contributions of Slovenian companies and scientists to space projects,
• life on the International Space Station.

A distinctive feature of the museum is its interactive content, including 3D-printed models, digital presentations on tablets, and samples of real space food.

Hosting the Micro Museum

The Micro Museum is a compact, portable exhibition unit, inspired by contemporary global trends in museology. It allows the presentation of rich content in a smaller space, offering an experience equal to that of larger museum exhibitions. Its mobility enables it to be set up in various locations – tourist information centres, schools, libraries, and public events – thereby spreading knowledge about space.

To host the travelling Micro Museum in your venue, please contact us at: info(at)center-noordung.si. We are flexible with scheduling, though a minimum hosting period of three months is preferred.

Authorship

The Micro Museum was designed and created by Nik Hrovat as part of his graduate thesis. The content was developed by Monika Tisel. The project was realised with the support and collaboration of the Center Noordung team.
