Project Duration: September, October, November 2020
Project Purpose
The Pioneers into Practice programme enabled the connection of organisations and professionals working in the field of climate change from diverse backgrounds, levels of experience, and skill sets, while learning practical skills in systems innovation. This professional mobility programme by EIT Climate-KIC brings together experts from industry, business, academia, research institutions, local authorities, as well as non-profit and public organisations.
Main Project Objective
To prepare data on the use of the Copernicus system in practical applications related to climate change.
Activities
- A 3-day introductory workshop in Ljubljana focused on transferring knowledge about systems innovation in the field of climate change and mitigation;
- a multi-week professional placement in one of the 19 participating European countries.
Center Noordung participated as a host organisation. We cooperated with two international students active in the fields of space technology and climate change:
- Laura Jurecska – Researcher at Eötvös Loránd University, Faculty of Science, Department of Microbiology (Budapest, Hungary) – wastewater treatment, groundwater bioremediation, chemical characterisation of unique aquatic habitats;
- Abdul Hafeez Omotosho – Researcher (space engineering) at the Wind Energy Technology Institute, Hochschule Flensburg (Flensburg, Germany); University of Bremen (Bremen, Germany) – Mission design, orbital systems, space propulsion, structural design and analysis, space environment, space systems engineering.
Together, we worked on content for an additional application that served as a good practice example of the Copernicus satellite system.
No external funds were received for the implementation of the project.
